ISLAMABAD: Israr Abbasi, a private member of the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA), has moved the Islamabad High Court against appointment of Pervez Rathore as acting chairman of the media watchdog and suspension of Geo News for 15 days.

Abbasi contended in his plea that according to PEMRA Ordinance there was no room for acting chairman. Thus, appointment of acting chairman and the June 6 decision taken at a meeting presided over by Rathore should be declared null and void.

The Islamabad High Court will take up the case on June 9.
