WASHINGTON: Pakistan did not take US into confidence over launch of North Waziristan operation, according to a US newspaper.
According to the Wall Street Journal (WSJ), a US defense official said that the Pentagon wasn't aware of Pakistan's decision to launch a new offensive in N. Waziristan.
Rear Adm. John Kirby, the Pentagon press secretary, said the attacks on the Karachi airport were a stark reminder of the constant dangers Pakistan faces from militants, the US paper stated.
"The Pakistan military and the government understand the threat, and they continue to go after that threat," WSJ quoted Kirby as saying.
