Pushto singer Gulnaz shot dead in Peshawar

PESHAWAR: Unknown gunmen shot dead a popular female singer in the northwestern Pakistani city of Peshawar after they barged into her house on Wednesday night, officials said Thursday.

Gulnaz, 38, famous under her performing name Muskan, was shot by four gunmen after a verbal scuffle between her family and the attackers.

She died in hospital.

"The singer Gulnaz has been shot dead," local police station chief Riazul Haq told. "She had married three times and had some personal enmities."

The assailants managed to successfully flee from the spot.

The body of the singer was shifted to hospital for medico-legal formalities while police has launched an investigation into the murder.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case on the complaint by Gulnaz’s brother, Sadaqat.
