PESHAWAR: Police claimed on Sunday to have arrested eighty suspects including foreigners during a search operation conducted in the city’s posh locality, Hayatabad.

According to sources, a 700 strong contingent including female conducted a door-to-door operation in Phases 5, 6 and 7 of Hayatabad. The law enforcers cleared four thousand houses after checking identity cards and other particulars of the residents in an attempt to flush out suspects on their watch-list.

Eighty suspects including Afghan citizens as well as one Sri Lankan who had been staying in Peshawar for the last nine months were arrested during the hours-long search operation.

Traffic police also facilitated the police operation, sources said.
