Cop killed as shootout continues in Lahore

LAHORE: An Elite force official was killed in an exchange of fire between the security forces and heavily armed militants, Geo News reported Thursday.

Acting on a tip off about presence of militants, police surrounded a residential compound located on Raiwind Road. According to reports, heavy arms were being used in the shoot out which started at 2:00 am.

SP Zahid Marwat told media that additional contingent of forces had been called in to cope with the situation.

A blast was also heard amid the intermittent firing.
