PESHAWAR: Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali Khan on Monday said that ‘minus-one’ formula was unacceptable to him but in the same breath added that the demand for resignation of an elected Prime Minister cannot be termed unconstitutional.

Addressing a press conference here, Asfandyar said there were constitutional ways to demand resignation of an elected PM.

He said the government had accepted all the demands of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) except PM’s resignation.

He categorically said that his party was not fighting for PM Nawaz Sharif but struggling for the future of democracy. Criticizing PTI’s policy, Asfandyar said nothing good would transpire from submitting resignations.

Wali asked as to how the machinery of state would function if people stopped paying taxes, adding that ANP will support Mehmood Khan Achakzai’s public rallies in the favour of democracy.
