ISLAMABAD: Awami National Party (ANP) Senator, Haji Adeel said on Thursday that the ‘jihad’ against corruption needed to be fought together. "A jihad is not fought while sitting in a bulletproof and air conditioned container."
Addressing the joint-session, Adeel said Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) chief Dr Tahirul Qadri should inform him about the 30,000 arrested PAT workers and he would have them released. Adeel said his party despite reservations accepted the elections results in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa for the sake of democracy.
The ANP leader added there were terrorists present outside parliament who were checking people. “We have to take routes to parliament which we have never seen before.” Adeel further said the main doors of parliament had been closed and there were tents placed outside.
Haji Adeel said his party also had complaints about the government but said those protesting should not make an issue about the presence of the prime minister. “We have families running the government which is not acceptable by the new generation.”
The ANP senator said the army was fighting a war but had been dragged into the political crisis, adding that this could only be the work of ‘Taliban Khan.’ “Involving the army in any other matter when it is fighting a war against terrorists could not be the work of a normal Pakistani.”
Criticizing Tahirul Qadri, Adeel said the PAT chief was an expert of promoting issues. He added that the government should continue talks but also be aware of the problems of people.
