40 arrested during operation in Karachi areas

KARACHI: Forty persons were arrested when police conducted raids in New Karachi and Godhra areas of Karachi on Tuesday, Geo News reported.

Details have it that the security forces launched a search operation after the unknown gunmen riding the motorcycles attacked policemen at Power House Chowrangi and killed an ASI late on Tuesday night. The deceased ASI was identified as Raheem Bakhsh.

SP Chaudhry Asad told that the operation was conducted in Alam Pride, Sector 5G, Sector 11G, Godhra and Sector 5J areas.

During the operation, 40 persons were apprehended who were handed over to the SHOs of various police stations and are currently being interrogated.

The SP further told that 24 arrested men belonged to Sunni Tehreek while 16 are MQM workers.
