MUZAFFARGARH: Police busted a terrorism plan in Muzaffargarh district of southern Punjab ahead of Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) during which four terrorist belonging to a banned outfit were killed in an encounter while three policemen were also injured, Geo News reported Saturday.

Details have it that police personnel signaled a suspected car to stop near Lucky Chowk on Mehmood Kot Road as part of beefed up security measures on the Chehlum of Hazrat Imam Hussain today. Instead of following the directive, the culprits present in the vehicle opened fire on the security force injuring three personnel. However, in a retaliatory action, four terrorists were killed and four others managed to escape from the site.

District Police Officer (DPO) Muzaffargarh Rai Zameerul Haq told that huge cache of arms and weapons was recovered from their possession including 12 rocket launchers, 40 hand grenades and four suicide vests. The terrorists belonged to a banned outfit, DPO informed.

The injured policemen were shifted to a hospital for treatment while the area was cordoned off to nab the escaped terrorists, he added.
