ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Wednesday said he has conveyed a message to Muttahida Qaumi Movement Chief Altaf Hussain that it is no time to “open new front”.
He was apparently commenting on Altaf Hussain’s recent remarks about Islamabad’s Lal Masjid.
Addressing a press conference, he said that some political parties had raised objections over military courts. “We will also agree if others do so,” he said adding that the meeting of political parties called for exemplary punishments for the perpetrators of Peshawar tragedy.
The maulana added that he would cooperate with the government to eliminate terrorism. He, however, urged the government not to discriminate while awarding death penalty.
