PESHAWAR: Javed Nasim, the dissident MPA of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) along with his supporters protested in front of Peshawar Press Club on Monday saying the party could not snatch his membership of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly.
Speaking to media representatives, Nasim said he was loyal to the PTI and wanted to put his vote in favour of its candidate in the Senate polls.
However, a propaganda controversy was hatched to damage his character, he added.
“I am still loyal to PTI but without committing any offence, I have been expelled from the party,” said the MPA. “And the only reason for the decision is that I am a poor man,” he added.
“I will retain my seat as nobody could disqualify me from KP Assembly’s membership,” he said while standing among dozens of his supporters who came along to show solidarity with the MPA.
Nasim said though he had signed the nomination papers of a candidate who was not from the PTI, but the party leadership should have stopped him from doing so.
“Nobody asked or sought explanation from me,” he said and challenged that if the provincial government prove corruption against him he would be ready to face any punishment.
The dissident MPA said that his house was attacked by some PTI workers backed by a MNA and police registered case against him instead.
“This has become a police state where poor man like me has no say,” he added.
Supporters of the MPA chanted slogans in his favour and condemned the PTiI leadership’s decision of expelling him from the party.
