PM, President greet new Chairman, Deputy Chairman Senate

ISLAMABAD: President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister (PM) Nawaz Sharif on Thursday felicitated Senator Raza Rabbani of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) and Moulana Ghafoor Haideri of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-F (JUI-F) for being elected as chairman and deputy chairman Senate.

According to a statement issued here, President Mamnoon said the election of chairman and deputy chairman Senate would strengthen the democracy.

In a separate statement, the PM said the unopposed election of Raza Rabbani will strengthen the roots of democracy in the country. Mr. Sharif added that Pakistan Muslim Legaue-Nawaz (PML-) believes in politics of reconciliation and dialogue.

He also congratulated all the newly elected senators.
