PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Sardar Mahtab Ahmad Khan Saturday said that it is imperative to give education the national priority as this is essential for national cohesion and prosperity.

Addressing as the chief guest at the 2nd Convocation of Islamia College University of Peshawar, the Governor said it is an era of science, technology and research and stressed the need for development in information technology, science and qualitative research for putting the country and the nation on the road to prosperity.

The Governor congratulated the distinguished students and their parents and said you have a great future and you have to compete with the rest of the world and earn good name for your country and added that the graduates must realize this world of knowledge.

The Governor said that we can achieve the objective of education only if it is supplemented by character building of our younger generations.

“They must have a clear sense of our history, our cultural values and religious principles,” he added.

Felicitating all the graduating students, the governor also wished them a successful future.

“Whatever you do, do it with love and passion, respect yourself and respect others, be tolerant and open hearted, strive hard and aim high,” he further advised the students.

Appreciating the services of this great institution, the Governor said that Islamia College is not just a College but also stands for a great vision and its students and faculty have led and served the nation in an exemplary manner during the last 100 years.

Vice Chancellor of the University Prof. Dr Ajmal Khan also highlighted salient features of the achievements as well as performance of the university.

Earlier the Governor awarded degrees and medals to graduates.
