KARACHI: Karachi police have expedited action against terrorists in Karachi, killing five more militants of banned outfits in different overnight raids.
Over 24 suspects including foreigners were arrested and an explosive factory was also unearthed during the raids.
In-charge Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) Mazhar Mashwani said action was launched in Tori Bangash colony on the tip-off about presence of terrorists in the area. On seeing police, the militants opened fire and in retaliation two of them identified as Kamran and Zubair were killed.
Police also seized large quantity of weapons and explosive material from their possession.
Mashwani claimed the accused had set up explosive factory in the area.
During a separate action in Ghazi Goth of Mangopir area, three terrorists of proscribed outfit were also killed while a policeman injured. Two accomplices of the accused managed to flee.
Meanwhile, 10 people two militants of banned group were arrested from Mominabad.
Several people including foreigners were also apprehended and arms recovered during operation in Haroonabad, Old Golimar, Pathan colony and Pak Colony.
According to SSP Baldia Town Ejaz Hashmi, police arrested 24 people including foreigners during search operation in Ittehad town and Madina colony.
