KARACHI: In a bid to release seven suspects arrested during an attack on PTI camp office in Karimabad, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers along with local residents gathered outside Gulberg Police Station early on Saturday morning.

Speaking to the media on the occasion, MQM leader Rashid Godil said that they were waiting outside the police station for the last two hours but the main gate was locked.

He said Parliamentarians do not receive such treatment anywhere in the world, emphasizing that only lawmakers were accompanying him and not the party activists.

The MQM leader said that the arrested were ordinary citizens and not the party workers.

Another MQM leader Asif Hasnain, on the occasion, claimed that the police were being biased in the whole episode, adding that the act accounted for pre-poll rigging. He vowed not to leave the premises until all arrested are released by the police.

Godil had earlier said that PTI Chairman Imran Khan was suffering from ‘Alaf-phobia’ and his dream of conquering Karachi would never come true.

In a statement issued by the MQM, he said that his party was a liberal, peace-loving and democratic political party and it did not require anyone’s certificate in this regard.

Godil said Imran Khan wanted to win upcoming by-poll in Karachi through his goons but MQM’s workers would fail the PTI chief’s plans.
