KARACHI: Former president of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and seasoned politician Makhdoom Javed Hashmi on Monday alleged that PTI Chairman Imran Khan had thanked the leaders of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) after a massive public rally held in the metropolis last year.

Speaking in Geo News show “Jirga”, he said that Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) was also in consultation with the PTI besides MQM regarding joining their protest sit-in outside the Parliament in Islamabad.

Hashmi said, “Imran Khan met with MQM leaders including two or three MNAs at a wedding reception of PTI leader Arif Alvi’s daughter or son”. He said that the reception was held immediately after the Karachi rally on September 21, 2014.

Reminiscing about the meeting, he said PTI General Secretary Jahangir Tareen said that deals have been made with various leaders and PPP and MQM would soon join the sit-in.

At one point, General (retd) Hamid Gul had said that the ‘verdict’ would be reached by tonight, said Hashmi referring to non-political support for PTI in toppling the elected government of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

Javed Hashmi had announced his resignation from his post in the PTI soon after getting suspended by the party for hurling allegations at Imran Khan last year.
