KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Monday lashed out at the Pakistan Tehree-e-Insaf (PTI) for returning to the same Parliament they once called fake and alleged that it came into being through poll rigging.

Speaking to a rally at Azizabad’s Jinnah Ground, he said that embarrassment of the PTI leaders was there to be seen by everyone as they did all sorts of propaganda against the elected Parliament.

Hussain said he did not want to go into details, but Parliament membership gets revoked if an MNA fails to attend the National Assembly’s session for 40 consecutive days. Memberships of the MNAs are also revoked by tendering resignations from the house, he added.

Commenting on last week’s Karimabad incident, in which a PTI election camp was attacked in the Karachi neighbourhood, the MQM chief said that his party did not plan the attack. People were angry on PTI leadership for hurling abuses at MQM and it was their reaction, he added.

Altaf Hussain claimed that MQM’s candidate for the upcoming by-poll in NA-246 would come out victorious in the April 23 by-election.
