KARACHI: A Joint Investigation Team (JIT) has been formed to interrogate suspects arrested by dismissed SSP Malir Rao Anwar, sources informed Geo news on Friday.
The sources said that the JIT would be comprised of DIG CIA Sultan Khawaja, DIG East Munir Sheikh, and an officer each from Rangers, Military Intelligence (MI), Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and Special Branch.
The two suspects – Tahir alias Lamba and Junaid – were presented before the media on Thursday by Anwar, who claimed that they belong to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) and were trained by Indian spy agency RAW.
The former SSP Malir also claimed that the party was working against Pakistan on the behest of the enemies.
Rao Anwar was later dismissed from his post and directed to report at the Central Police office for issuing statements of political nature.
