LAHORE: The bodies of two minor siblings who had been missing from their home since the previous night were found Sunday in a nearby pond in Shahdara area of Lahore.

Family members said three-year-old Ismail and five-year-old Adil had been reported missing from their house Saturday evening.

They said that the deep pond where the bodies were found is filled with poisonous chemicals from a nearby factory. They claimed that nothing had been done about the pond hazardous pond despite repeated requests to the administration.

The relatives have put the bodies on the Shahdara chowk, blocking the road in protest. They claimed that police did not help despite their pleas, and that rescue workers also reached the location very late.

Police said that there was no evidence of murder from the bodies or the location. Superintendent Asad Sarfaraz said that a case had been registered at the local police station, but further details could only be ascertained after a post-mortem report.

Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has taken notice and ordered the Lahore city police chief to submit a report on the incident.
