LAHORE: The lawyers of Sardar Ayaz Sadiq, de-seated by Election Tribunal after nullifying his election from NA-122, have filed a plea in the ET for providing them an attested copy of its verdict.
The lawyers team led by former attorney general Khawaja Saeed-ul-Zaffar, have also finalized appeal against the tribunal’s verdict and it would be filed in the Supreme Court after they receive attested copy from the ET.
According to text of the appeal, the Election Tribunal did not consider their arguments and there was no reference in the verdict regarding these arguments.
Its further says, “Not a single allegation was proven in the verdict and also there is no witness of the rigging even Imran Khan was hospitalized.”
The witnesses presented before the tribunal had no link with the NA-122 constituency, it said and added that the ET did not take any notice of verification of Khan’s plea by fake oath commissioner.
The lawyers have alleged that tribunal was using delaying tactics to provide the attested copy of its verdict.
Election Tribunal Judge Kazim Malik on Saturday de-seated National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq after nullifying his election from NA-122 and directed the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold a re-election in the constituency.
Ayaz Sadiq had defeated the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan in the May 2013 general elections, but his victory was challenged by the PTI chief in the tribunal.
