KARACHI: Chairman Senate, Mian Raza Rabbani on Saturday described as shameful the denial of visas by the US to Pakistani students who wished to participate in a talent contest.

“Our youngsters have the talent to raise the national flag up in any field,” Raza Rabbani said while addressing a program held here at Arts Council of Pakistan in the honour of students who shined distinctively at Microsoft Office Specialist World Championship.

“Only one student was granted visa and his emerging successful in the championship is a slap on the US's face,” he said.

Waqas Ali, who secured third position in the contest, said Pakistan’s youth possess great amount of talent and that he is glad he brought good name to his country.

He, however, complained that not a single representative of the incumbent government came forward in a gesture to show encouragement on his success.
