KARACHI: Processions across Pakistan concluded, to pay homage to the unparalleled sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain and his companions who laid down their lives to preserve the uprightness of Islam in Karbala.
Multiple processions took place under tight security. The federal and provincial governments took strict security measures to maintain law and order on the occasion, while the Army was deployed in sensitive areas.
Mobile phone service and wireless internet service has also started resuming following suspension in light of security concerns, while officials at the command and control center monitored the processions through CCTV cameras.
Zuljinah and Taazia processions also took place in big and small cities and towns of the country.
Hundreds of sabeels of milk and sherbat were set up along the traditional routes of the processions on Ashura.
Azadars also distributed Langar among participants on the occasion.
The law enforcing agencies were directed to remain vigilant and keep a close watch on procession routes and other sensitive points to ensure peace and protect the life and property of the people.
Meanwhile, President Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif paid accolades to the sacrifices of Hazrat Imam Hussain.
