NAROWAL: India once again violated the ceasefire pact with Pakistan, as two people were martyred and 11 others sustained injuries after Indian troops opened fire at Shakargarh Sector of the Working Boundary in Narowal district near Sialkot.
District Coordination Officer (DCO) Najaf Iqbal confirmed the incident, adding that Punjab Rangers retaliated to the Indian shooting in a befitting manner.
Those martyred in the unprovoked firing from Indian side included a 16-year old boy and a girl aged 10.
More than 50 houses were also damaged in the unprovoked heavy mortar shelling by the Indian Border Security Forces (BSF) targeting the civilian population.
According to a spokesperson of the Punjab Rangers, border villages near Sialkot including Sugmaal, Kothey Chak, Mallu Chak, Boorey Chak, Bhopalpur, Agor, Lambriyaal, Saambli, Makkuwal, Mangu Chak and Chattar were badly hit by the heavy mortar shelling by the Indian BSF.
DCO Iqbal said a medical camp has been set up by the district administration to provide medical aid to the injured.
