KARACHI: The twice-postponed Polio immunization campaign has finally begun in Karachi where over one million children from three districts will be administered Polio vaccine drops.

To provide to the polio immunization teams Rangers have also been deployed along with the Police force.

The Inspector General of Police (Sindh) has deployed 3,000 Police personnel to provide security to 6000 polio workers operating in the city’s Central, West and East districts.

The drive was initially planned after the first case of Poliovirus was identified in Karachi earlier this month. Nearly one year after the last incidence was reported from the city and was to run from the 28th till the 30th of October but was postponed due to lack of security provision for the immunization teams.

The campaign was later planned to run from the 3rd till the 6th of November but was postponed once again.
