As the country is heading towards general elections slated to be held on February 8, a tough contest is expected between PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and PML-N’s Attah Ullah Tarrar in NA-127 Lahore XI constituency. Prior to the new delimitations in November last year as per the 2023 digital census data, this National Assembly constituency was renamed “NA-127 Lahore XI” from NA-133 Lahore-XI. Over 527,000 registered voters, including 273,014 male and 254,030 female, are expected to exercise their democratic right next week. As many as 25 different candidates are in the run for the upcoming elections. PTI-supported independent candidate Malik Zaheer Abbas Khokhar, TLP’s Matloob Ahmad, JI’s Syed Ihsan Ullah Waqas, besides candidates of PPP and PTI, are vying for the seat. In 2018, PML-N’s candidate Mohammad Pervaiz Malik won election from NA-133 Lahore-XI by securing 89,678 votes. PTI’s Ejaz Ahmed Chaudary stood second by obtaining 77,231 votes.
