KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Wednesday chaired the first Apex committee meeting at the chief minister house since assuming office.

The meeting being attended by Governor Sindh Dr. Ishrat Ul Ebad, Corps Commander Karachi, Lt. Gen. Naveed Mukhtar, Chief Secretary Siddiqui Memon, Senior Minister Nisar Khuhro, Moula Bux Chandio, Murtaza Wahab, DG Rangers Maj. General Bilal Akbar, IGP Sindh A.D Khwaja, Additional IG CTD Sanaullah Abbasi and others will take stock of the law and order situation and will review progress reports.

The meeting will also discuss the implementation of the National Action Plan and will review the situation after the 22nd August incident in detail.

DG Rangers briefing

DG Rangers Maj. General Bilal Akbar briefed the Apex committee on the progress made in the metropolis since September 2013 when the Karachi operation was launched.

General Akbar told the attendees that 848 target killers have been arrested during the targeted operation and were found to be involved in the 7,224 crimes.

The DG Rangers added, that 654 target killers affiliated with the militant wing of MQM were also arrested and have confessed to 5,863 target killings.

Meanwhile, 95 target killers affiliated with the Lyari gang-war have also been arrested and have confessed to 804 murders.

Ninty-nine target killers belonging to banned organizations were also arrested and have confessed to 557 murders, the DG Rangers briefed the meeting.
