PIA has a new COO

KARACHI: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) on Wednesday announced the appointment of Captain Qasim Hayat as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO).

Captain Hayat who has been heading flight operations division as Director Flight Operations has been given the additional charge of COO, a position that was created when PIA inducted Bernd Hildenbrand earlier this year.

Under Hildenbrand as COO, the airlinereported operational profits in March. According to sources, Hildenbrand was promoted to Acting CEO of the airline in May this year.

The new COO, Captain Qasim Hayat will continue as Director Flight Operations and as Chief Operating Officer of the airline and will overseefunctions of Passenger Handling Services, Ramp Services (RSD), Security and Flight Safety & Quality Assurance Divisions, according to the airlines spokesperson.
