The Indian Supreme Court on Monday refused to grant an urgent hearing to a Public Interest Litigation declaring the Indus Water Treaty unconstitutional.

The apex court maintained that there was no urgency in the matter and that it will be heard in due course.

Advocate M L Sharma, who filed the PIL said that the treaty was unconstitutional as it was not signed as per the constitutional scheme and hence should be declared “void ab initio.”
