ISLAMABAD: Police and Rangers detained 14 suspects during a search operation in Bara Kahu and seized a sizeable amount of arms and ammunition on Friday.

According to Islamabad Police sources, law enforcers seized 36 different types of weapons including ten 30-bore pistols, two 9mm pistols, seven SMGs, five pump action rifles, four 7mm rifles and eight 12-guage rifles along with 800 rounds of live ammunition.

The accused have been shifted to police stations for further investigations.

According to senior police officials the main aim of such operations is to curb the presence of illegal arms and to bring in the licensed weapons into police records in an effort to clamp down on crime.
