OLDHAM: At the age of just10, British-Pakistani girl Laiba Hussain has achieved extraordinary success by passing her General Certificate of Secondary Education (GCSE) exams. The usual passing age for the exam in Britain is 16.
"All my success is due to my parents whom I would like to thank for their constant support," Laiba said while talking to Geo News. "For other kids my message is that work hard and you will achieve your goals."
Laiba sat the GCSE exam for mathematics and scored a C, only narrowly missing on getting a B grade.
The 10-year-old, a resident of Oldham, wants to be a dentist.
Laiba'ssuccess at such a young age has overwhelmed her family as well.
"We should focus on our children's education [as] that is the only way forward, to prosper in this society," Laiba's father, Sajawal Hussain, told Geo News. "As a parent, if we give the society an educated child, I believe that's the best thing we can do as human beings."
Laiba'sproud mother said, "If we educate a girl, it will help us build an educated society. Money is not everything our priorities should be aneducation for our kids, as for integration into the society [here], education and upbringing will play a major role in future."
