Pakistan's Sinan Ashfaq bags bronze medal at World Taekwondo President’s Cup

DUBAI: Sinan Ashfaq, Pakistan’s Taekwondo black belt, won the bronze medal at the 1st World Taekwondo President’s Cup held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

In the 65kg category, Ashfaq performed brilliantly in the group fights and defeated his opponents from Kazakhstan. In the semi-finals, however, he lost to Uzbek rival.

Speaking to Geo.tv, the Taekwondo champion stated he was proud to have achieved thismilestone and that the experience during the contests was a joyous one.

“The medal is the gift to Pakistan on its 70th Independence day”, Sinan declared delightfully.

After winning thebronze medal in the World Taekwondo President’s Cup,the player gave the credit of the victory to his coach Nadir Ali and brother Ammar Ashfaq.

Ammar Ashfaq and Fashiuddin also participated in the75kg adult category in the competition from Pakistan.

The President’s Cup is organised by Uzbekistan Taekwondo Association (UTA), with a sanction from the World Taekwondo Federation (WTF).

The competition's inaugural edition brought together nearly 1,000 competitors from across the world in three weight divisions, namely Cadet, Junior, and Senior.
