ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Monday clarified that Usama Ahmad Khan, a student of Shenyang Jianzhu University, committed suicide and was not killed.

A video had gone viral which showed a man alleged to be Usama being beaten by three people. However, FO spokesperson Dr Muhammad Faisal said, “The video being circulated on social media is fake and is not that of Usama Ahmad Khan.”

We request all to help us in exercising caution in such matters, avoiding sensationalism and stopping spreading of "fake news", he added.

The FO spokesperson further said that upon receiving information, the ambassador of Pakistan to China deputed an officer of the embassy to visit Shenyang. “In Shenyang, he met students and faculty of the university, as well as, the police authorities. Throughout this process, he remained in close contact with the family of the deceased and got full support of Chinese authorities,” he said.

Usama’s body will be transported to Pakistan tonight. The body was transported from Liaoning province to Beijing in the morning of November 17, the FO spokesperson said.
