KARNATAKA: At least 11 people died of suspected food poisoning after eatingat a ceremony to celebrate the construction of a new Hindu temple in southern India, the Associated Press reported.

According to police officials, 93 people have been hospitalisedof which 23 are in critical condition.

The police further said that samples have been collected for chemical analysis of food that was served to devotees following a temple foundation laying ceremony in Chamarajnagar district of Karnataka state.

They vomited, complained of severe stomach pain and were taken to nearby hospitals, authorities added.

Further, police detained two members of the temple’s management for questioning, Press Trust of India news agency reported.
