The federal government has decided to replace Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Naeem Khan, sources saidon Tuesday.
Officials, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, said that the decision was taken after Prime Minister Imran Khan expressed his "dissatisfaction" with the performance of Dr Naeem.
Sources further said that the Establishment Division has sent three names to replace the provincial IGP, adding that Dr Naeem would be placed as an officer on special duty after the new IGP is notified.

The officials said that the trio of names sent to PM Imran for consideration are of senior police officers Muhammad Tahir, Sanaullah Abbasi and Muhammad Suleman.
Sources also said that a summary will be issued by the Establishment Division after the prime minister makes his choice.
The government had appointed Dr Naeem as the KP IGP in February 2019 as replacement for Salahuddin Mehsud.
