Khyber Pakhtunkhwa IG, chief secretary removed from posts

ISLAMABAD: The government on on Saturday removed Salahuddin  Mehsud as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Inspector General of Police and Naveed Kamran Baloch as chief secretary.

As per a notification issued by the Establishment Division, Grade 21 officer Muhammad Salim has been appointed as the new chief secretary while Baloch has been directed to report to the Establishment Divsion.

On the other hand, Grade 22 officer Muhammad Naeem Khan, who was serving as Azad Kashmir IG, has replaced Mehsud as KP IG. Mehsud has now been appointed as Azad Kashmir IG, the notification added.

According to sources, the government wants to introduce a parallel system between police and the Levies force and the former KP IG and chief secretary had opposed the system.

“Mehsud and Baloch were of the opinion that a parallel system between police and the Levies force is against Supreme Court orders,” sources added. “The KP chief secretary was transferred on the matter regarding political appointments in the Levies force,” the sources further said.
