The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa cabinet approved to merge the Levies force with the regular police in a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Friday.

The proposal, if accepted in the KP assembly, will add 28,000 paramilitary officers in the police force. The cabinet decided to form courts under the Juvenile Justice System Act and gave the go-ahead to amend Narcotics Act 2019.

The amendment in the narcotics act aims to curb the usage of crystal methamphetamine, more popularly known by its street name, 'Ice'.

"There was no wheat crisis in the country, it was created [artificially],"KP Information minister Shaukat Yousufzai said while briefing media about the cabinet's decision.

“We will ask the nanbais to reduce the cost of bread once wheat price falls,” said the minister. The provincial lawmakers will be sent on foreign visits to increase their competency."

The cabinet also approved allocating vehicles to 22 senior civil judges, he said.
