KARACHI: A special team of police investigators visited the Karachi University on Wednesday to probe the killing of assistant professor Dr Waheedur Rehman, and asked the varsity administration to submit details of 10 students.
Dr Rehman, an assistant professor at the KU’s Mass Communication department, was gunned down by unknown attackers on motorcycles near his residence in Federal B Area last week.
DSP Azizabad Aijaz Uddin and investigation officer Nisar Qureshi visited the varsity and questioned teachers on campus. According to reports, the investigators seized Dr Rehman's computer and have asked Karachi University administration to provide complete records of 10 students.
On the request of teachers, the KU administration has provided security to the university's Department of Mass Communications and two Rangers personnel have been deployed there.
An autopsy report revealed that Rehman was shot five times – with four bullets in his head, neck, right shoulder and stomach – while the teacher died on the spot.
Police have so far issued a sketch of suspect in Rehman’s murder, believed to be a 30- to 35-year-old man with a dark complexion.
