LAHORE: Almost 80% of Punjab's total patients of the novel coronavirus are male, a report fromthe provincial health department released Friday indicated.

The report showed that of the total 10,033 patients, 7,971 — or 79.4% — are male, while 2,061 or 20.5% are female.

Of the total 10,033 patients, 750 are in the 25-34 age bracket.

Some1,926 of the province's total cases are individuals from the Tableeghi Jamaat and768 are pilgrims.

Only six of the total are transgender people.

Tests of 1,252 healthcare workers were carried out and184 of them were diagnosed as positive.

Separately, 488 of the 961 new cases over the past 24 hours are from Lahore and 87 from Gujrat, whereas one person died, raising Punjab's death toll to 183. The provincial capital's tally of infected cases has risen to 3,856.

The total number of Punjab's cases, as of reporting time, have risen to 10,033 of which 22 people were in critical condition. On the other hand, 4,062 individuals have recovered so far.

Punjab has conducted117,206 tests to date.
