RAWALPINDI: The provision of best service to the victims of emergencies which is prime objective of Rescue 1122 must be ensured at all costs, said Director General Rescue 1122 Dr. Rizwan Naseer while chairing a meeting of the District Emergency Officers (DEOs) of all districts of Punjab.

The meeting was held at Emergency Services Academy to review the management of the situation in flood prone districts, dengue epidemic and the operational working of the service. The DG directed the DEOs to ensure uniform quality and standards of the service in all districts of the province through strict monitoring, victim's feedback and regular exercises.

After review and discussion with the DEOs, it was pointed out that an irresponsible section of society is not only making irrelevant calls on emergency numbers but also wasting resources of Rescue 1122 for minor medical ailments.

On this occasion the DG directed the authorities concerned for adoption of the preventive measures for rescuers so that they could be protected from diseases like dengue because if the emergency workers also get affected then who will rescue the helpless victims of emergencies and flood disasters.

He requested the public not to make calls if a person can easily be shifted on private vehicles but make timely call in case of accident, injury or fire incident. He also directed the authorities concerned to improve efficiency of the rescuers through regular drills and trainings in all districts.
