LEEDS: New Zealand, after losing the toss, were 297 for eight against England at stumps on the first day of the second Test at Headingley on Friday.

Mark Craig was 16 not out and Matt Henry 14 not out after Test debutant Luke Ronchi (88) and Tom Latham (84) put on 120 for the sixth wicket following a washed-out first session.

England lead the two-match series 1-0 after their 124-run victory in the first Test at Lord´s on Monday.
