54 outlaws arrested in January 2012

FAISALABAD: Police have claimed to arrest 54 members of 14 notorious gangs and recovered stolen property worth Rs.12.24 million during the month of January 2012.

A spokesman of the police said here Tuesday that 351 drug traffickers were also arrested during this period and 29 kilogram Chars, 21 kilogram Heroin, 25 kilogram puppy dust and 1309 bottles of liquor were also recovered from their possession in addition to unearthing 7 distilleries.

He told, 11 drunkards and 201 gamblers with stake money of Rs.235,000 were also nabbed in addition to arrest 260 accused of holding illicit weapons along with 1 Kalshankove, 17 rifles, 34 guns (12-bore), 13 revolvers, 186 pistols (30-bore), 8 carbines and 602 bullets/cartridges.

During this period 198 court absconders and 778 Proclaimed Offenders (POs) were also arrested, he added. (APP)
