Rangers deployed in Lyari following clashes

KARACHI: Heavy contingent of Rangers have been deployed in Lyari area of the metropolis following clashes that remained continued for the fourth consecutive day between law enforcement agencies and the residents of Lyari.

The clashes took place as law enforcers launched an operation against criminal elements in the Lyari area.

Earlier, Lyariites took to the streets in protest against the operation launched by the police in assistance with the Frontier Constabulary (FC).

Lee Market Chowk looked like a battlefield after a clash between the police and protesters. Protesters damaged an armored vehicle as they hurled a petrol bomb on it. The ensuing fire engulfed a nearby shop.

Rangers personnel are removing rubble with the help of bulldozers. Police has detained 10 suspects during the operation.

The hardest hit areas included Lee Market, Daryabad, Nayabad and others.
