ISLAMABAD: Islamabad Police have registered 48 cases against those involved in immoral activities and arrested a total of 304 persons including 161 women during current year for being indulged in such acts, a police spokesman said.

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Bani Amin Khan ordered all police officials to launch massive crackdown against drug pushers, gamblers, and those guest houses involved in immoral activities.

He also ordered to ensure immediate steps against them besides booking those involved in promoting immoral activities. A total of 48 cases were registered at various police stations and 304 persons were arrested in connection with these cases while 78 wine bottles were also recovered during various raids.

During this year, 162 gamblers were arrested while hundreds of mobile phones and stake money as well as valuables were recovered from them.

SSP Islamabad Yaseen Farooq has also directed all SHOs to ensure effective steps to curb activities of anti-social elements and take immediate action on public complaints regarding any immoral act in some of the area.

He said that police officials should ensure arrest of these elements and register cases against them.

In case of any complaint about policemen not taking action against such elements despite information to them, the SSP said strict disciplinary action would be taken against them. (APP)
