Bryan Cranston and Ty Burrell are set to bring back the 1950s drama Tightrope!.

As reported by Deadline, the Modern Family alum is ready to star in a comedy reimagining of the CBS American crime drama with Cranston executive producing the project under his label.

The original series follows the chronicle of undercover agent Nick Stone (Mike Connors) who infiltrates criminal gangs and organizations.

With Nick’s identity unknown to cops and criminals alike, the show’s name references Nick’s life as he walks on a tightrope between good and evil to maintain his cover.

Now according to the streaming service, the upcoming series “reshapes the drama of the vintage 1950s series into a slapstick comedy”.

The series will feature Burell as “a lone wolf detective following cases city to city, while he searches for his long-lost love who got away”, the show’s description mentioned.

While Roku greenlit the six-episode series, it will be produced by Cranston’s Moonshot Entertainment along with Burrell’s Desert Whale Productions and Village Roadshow Television.

“I'm so thrilled to be working with Bryan, and Roku Originals, on this bonkers (in the best way) idea of a show”, Burrell added in his statement.

While the Breaking Bad actor shared, “I was inspired by the on-the-nose old drama series of the 50's, to mess with the whole thing and create a new version of a lunatic comedy, never seen before in a TV series” before he quipped, “Tightrope is a result of a fever dream, and conceived over a bowl of chili at Chasens, savvy?”.
