ISLAMABAD: The devious game of mafias in Karachi is at its best. The latest intelligence reports have revealed that the target killers involved in high profile cases being squarely focused on by the media and judiciary, are on the target of their own bosses and handlers after having become possible threats for the dons.

Security sources in Karachi told The News here on Saturday the latest intelligence reports reveal that the city mafia has decided to eliminate all those killers who were involved in the killing of Wali Khan Babar and Naimatullah Randhawa.

“The aim is to finish off the evidence and prevent the target killers from falling into the hands of law enforcing agencies,” an informed source said, adding that the challenge for the Karachi Rangers and police now is to get the target killers of high profile cases like Wali Khan Babar and Naimatullah Randhawa arrested before they are killed by their own masters.

According to another intelligence report, these sources said, the mafia is also considering using the Rangers and police uniforms to kill several people in Karachi and then propagate it as cases of extra-judicial killings.

Meanwhile, it is learnt that two of the target killers, who were assigned to target top police and Rangers’ officials in the provincial capital, have been arrested on Friday night. The authorities claim to have retrieved some useful information from these criminals.

It is also said that though the media and many commentators are criticising the Sindh government for seeking a three-month ban on Skype, Tango, Viber and other internet-based communication network facilities, the criminals of Karachi have been found using this technology to successfully execute their nefarious designs. Following the recent launch of targeted operations by the police and Rangers in Karachi, the city’s underworld switched over to internet social networks for their secret communications as mobiles and telephones are now considered insecure.

The Karachi authorities claim that the Rangers, police and some other provincial government departments have developed a reliable intelligence system, which is producing remarkable results and has helped expose networks of target killers, extortionists and other criminal gangs.

These authorities, however, are really disappointed and dejected at the government’s decision to continue with the moratorium on the death penalty. As reflected in media reports, they said that the terrorists, target killers and the condemned hardened criminals on death row are controlling operations of their criminal networks in Karachi and other parts of the country from their jail cells, in complete safety and in the protection of police.

“If the government will not execute the condemned target killers, rapists, terrorists and those involved in heinous crimes, how will crime be controlled,” a senior official of the law enforcing agency in Karachi asked.
