ROME: At least six people have died in flash floods on the Italian island of Sardinia on Monday, as heavy rain swept away cars, flooded homes and wiped out roads, Italys ANSA news agency reported.

Most of the victims were in the northeast of the island in and around the port city of Olbia, including a mother and daughter found dead in their car and a police officer whose vehicle was also overcome by the waters.
