KARACHI: Sindh Assembly (SA) on Monday witnessed uproar when Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) lawmakers were not allowed to speak, Geo News reported.

The Sindh Assembly session was held in the chair of Deputy Speaker Shehla Raza.

PPI adds:

Sindh Assembly on Monday witnessed a hullabaloo to condemn alleged adverse remarks of a provincial minister against a female MPA belonging to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM).

The rumpus forces the speaker to adjourn the sitting abruptly.

The house witnessed the protest against the alleged disrespectful remarks of Minister for Food Jam Mahtab Dahar against MQM female member Sumeta Afzal Syed.

The opposition members strongly protested and chanted slogans.

The treasury members also raised slogans. They strongly denied the charges, saying the minister never made any such remarks against the female MPA.

Speaker Agha Siraj Ahmed Durrani tried to keep the house in order and in failing so, he adjourned the sitting till Tuesday 18 Feb 2014 till 10AM.

The house witnessed the first rumpus when MPA Dewan Chand Chawla stood to speak on a call attention notice asking the home minister to give the answer statement that the cases of kidnapping of minority communities are increasing in province of Sindh.

The mover started his speech in an emotional tone, however, the chair deputy speaker Shehla Raza did not allow him to continue his speech saying, in morning he has also gave such a speech.

On this the MQM members strongly protested and raised slogans against Shehla Raza. They alleged that the deputy speaker was showing partiality.

Due to rumpus the deputy speaker adjourned the house for some 10 minutes. The House business remained suspended for 10 minute and it was later resumed with Speaker Agha Siraj in chair.
