KARACHI: Police has rescued a businessman from the vicinity of Docks police station after an encounter with the kidnappers on Wednesday, Geo News reported.

According to sources, the trader who was kidnapped from Tariq Road area was rescued after an encounter that took place near Docks police station jurisdiction. The police also arrested one culprit while three managed to flee from the scene.

CPLC chief Ahmed Chinnoy told that two days ago, a trader named Yousuf was kidnapped from Tariq Road along with his car. The kidnappers demanded ransom to free Yousuf. When the kidnappers were called for ransom payment, they opened fire on police who were present on the spot.

In retaliation, police also exchanged fire with the kidnappers that injured one while three others escaped from the scene. Police arrested the injured hostage taker.

Three motorcycles and a mobile phone were recovered from their possession, Chinnoy told the reporters.
