KARACHI: Disappointed in the apathetic authorities, the desperate families of the victims of Karachi factory fire, the death toll of which reached hundreds, Thursday started a rescue operation of their own, Geo News reported.

According to sources, no rescue worker dared to enter the gutted factory till Thursday morning, where the stubborn fire was still raising its hideous head here and there.

The building could collapse any time as the infernal fire scorched it for two days, they added.

Thus the kin of the missing workers, who had refused to leave there without any news about their loved ones, got themselves electric generators and lights so that they could get into and look inside the charred black hole of a building, the sources added further.

"The bereaved relatives are ready to risk their lives to find what fate their dear ones met in the wake of this dreadful tragedy", an eyewitness said.
