PESHAWAR: Huge cargo containers are standing in the way of demonstration rallies, which might try to throng American and other countries consulates to register their protest against the anti-Islam movie on Youm-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (PBUH) here on Friday, Geo News reported.

Similar measures have been taken in Karachi where roads leading to the US Consulate as well as government installations have been blocked by containers, and additional security has been posted.

In Lahore, contingents of police are deployed around all sensitive areas to ward of any untoward incidents as the nation observes Yaum-e-Ishq-e-Rasool (PBUH).

In the twin cities, disturbances have been reported in Rawalpindi while the capital remains calm where the diplomatic enclave has been cordoned off by placing containers and heavy deployment of law enforcers.

Routes leading to US installations across the country have been blocked and police claim to have taken position, it will be a difficult day for the law enforcers.

All major political parties and religious groups have announced protests, as have many trade and transport organizations, and large crowds are expected to turn out after Friday prayers.

Shops, markets and petrol stations remain closed as well as public transport; authorities hope there is no repeat of the violence seen on the streets of the capital on Thursday.

Furthermore, protesters have been strictly warned to resort from vandalism, as it would only serve the purpose of anti-Islam elements.
